Hemangioma

Eversince Alyssa was born, I noticed a strawberry looking red spot in a middle of her back. It surprises me because i never seen such a birthmark before like she had and neither my hubby don't. Although i am sorrounded with a few babies in a Phillipines who had a birthmark's but Alyssa had different one. It kind of worries me in a way that, its getting bigger, puffy and elevated.

According to her pediatrician, it is just a birthmark that she called it Hemangioma. She said, hemangioma is an abnormal build up of vessels of skin. It usually occur in a surface of a skin or some are in deeper that maybe presents anywhere of the body of a child specially to those who had a lighter skin color.

Hemangiomas are usually present at birth. It usually found on at least one in a fifty babies. But girls are more likely have than boys. I don't see how? It says, they often starts as little red dots sorrounded by a pale halo before they grow. Moreover, hemangiomas are grow quickly during the first 6 months. It shrinks at the first birthday. But it will completely gone for 2 or 3 years old. Besides, by just letting it fade, the result is usually normal-appearing skin that you can't even tell that there's something in there in a past. In some cases too, parents may tend to do a laser specially when hemongioma appeared at the baby's face or in the eyes or in a rare occasions, the size and the location of hemangiomas will interfare the baby's breathing, feeding or other vital functions. Unlikely, at this point, laser would be a solution to eradicate or destroy the small tissue inside of the skin. Hearthbreaking doesn't it?

I am just happy that Alyssa got only a little bitty spot in her back and not in her visible parts or locations that can bother her. Pediatrician said, we should be more careful and to not make any mistake that could cause bleeding.

My 4-month old Alyssa

Each child is unique. There are certain changes will occur at a certain ages. Thus, changes of attitudes, behaviors and physical milestone are normal and common on them. Mommies maybe confused of a sudden changes of a baby. However, mostly are joyous seeing their progress.

As an appreciation of my little girl Alyssa, who's turning to 4 month old in another 3 days , i am thrilled to shared a list showing her general progress. This is also for the mommies out here who are tend to know what's babies development in a stage 4 month old.

*Alyssa is now active and alert. She behaves in a friendly manner to me, to my hubby and to the person she always seen. She sometimes cry when she held by a stranger to her.
*Her fussiness was lessen; a very big different when she was 1 or 2 months old.
*She can now soothe herself and play. She actually likes to grab the keyboard of my PC. If she can't reach it, she will be cranky. "She probably like the sounds of the keyboard when i type, the reason why she likes to touch it too."
*She sleeps about 7 to 8 hours straight or sometimes 10 to 12 hrs in nigh time and several naps during the day. "This progress is really good for me. I don't need to get up in a middle of the night. Back then, i was worried i maybe turn out into zombie because of my ugly looking eye bags. Babies from birth to 2 months needs their food every 2-3 hours. "
*She can lift her head steady & straight. She likes to sit back and relax with a pillow support on her back while watching TV. "i like to watch her looking closely to a bunch of Filipinos in a TV."
*She likes to smile, wiggles, shake her body and jerk her feet off when she's happy and excited.
*she sometimes say "DA" "DI" which hubby claims that she's talking to him. And it was funny because we heard her babbling "andoy" yesterday; a name that i usually called my hubby all the time.
*She likes to lay on her tummy like a swimming motion. She can now push her body up.
*She tried to get up when i lay her on her back. "i am scared on this, first time she falls from a couch because she tries to get herself up and i don't expect she could do that."
*She likes attention. She demands a snug, sing and dance sometimes.
*Increase the idea of sucking her thumb or even her hands and licking my skin until she puke. "Gosh i hate this but i know it is part of a baby and somehow I'm going to get used to it."
*She slobber a lot now. "I don't know if this is a sign of teething. I think 4months old is too early for that?"
*She can holds eye contact for greater period of time. I think she prefers to see white and black colors.
*Of course, her appearance has changed. Her hair was losing especially at the back where she always laid.
*she's getting big and heavy. She gain more weight that i could never imagined. *She started eating a certain foods like banana and rice cereal, a baby's food in a little jar like banana pudding and rice flavor. I think she doesn't like apple, macaroni and cheese flavored because when i give her, she spit it up.

Those are Alyssa's improvement for now. Surely, there be a lot more coming later on this stage.
I am happy that she's no longer a newborn, but i must say, she's definitely still a baby, small and fragile. So, double safeguarding must required.

I Want You M0m

I don't know what is on my little girls mind today. She's acting so mean, She's screaming, kicking and rolling all over the place. And if u can see her u can tell she had a very big problem. I thought she's hungry or dirty or something but she's not. Everytime i go check on her she stop. But when i started leaving her she cries. I guess she probably think that i ignoring her which is unusual because i always hold her most of the times before and she's getting used to it. But unfortunately, eversince i learned about blogging, our daily routine was changed. I wish my little girl could understand that. lol i know i am too unknowledgeable. Baby need's a mommy not for just changing her diaper, giving a bottle but for them they needs a cuddle more often. And that is what Alyssa wants :))

Baby's Concern

Somebody could help me somehow of feeling unsecured for my little girl in the sense that she laid in her tummy when she was sleeping. I find it really comfortable for her to slept that way. I feel so worried because i couldn't even stand sleeping on that way for a very long time.I guess i am just too over protected knowing the fact that my younger brother does that too when he was a baby.

I read somewhere in a babies magazine that lying babies in their tummy is good for them. It can help them to learn to push up, roll over, sit up, crawl and pull to stand. But i think she like it so much even when she sleeps in a nightime. She sleep very long on that. I just hope i can change Alyssa's way of sleeping during nightime; lying on her back & sleeping 6 to 8 hours straight.

Giving Birth

We were down to my ob-gyne on the day of june
26,2007 at 2'oclock pm for my check up.The midwife had checked on me. I was really horrified when she said i can have a baby anytime within 24 hours. She said i am dilated for 4cm. She ask me if i can feel any signs of labor pains but i just answered her "i dont know". This was my first time of getting pregnant and having a baby. I just dont know what the labor pain is cause i've been on pain most of the times in my pregnancy.
They took me to the delivery room for fetal monitoring. It's kinda idiotic. I ask her if i can go home first to get my baby stuff but unfortunately, they did not allow me. lol They afraid if i might have a baby in my car and hurt me and the baby or something. Well, they place a toy-looking white round in my belly. It was an electronic fetal monitors used to detect and trace the fetal heart rate and uterine contactions. The pain is getting more worse everytime. But still i handle it ordinarily. Whenever i had a contraction, i just take a deep breath, sing and dance. They don't even know i had a very big contraction unless when they would take a look to the machine..Of course hubby noticed it because i hold him so tight whenever i had one. They said, i am a strongest m0m to be that they ever had in the hospital lol but i know for the fact that they just tell me about it to make me feel better and feel more comfortable to trust to myself and not to scared. Gladly it worked.
After all was done, discharging the urine out from my bladder and consecutive checkups on how far i am dilated which i really hate the most, at around 2o'clock am, they decided to break my Amniotic Fluid simply called a Bag of Waters. I thought that after the water has broken the pain is just the same. So, i said to my self giving birth is just too easy. But im wrong, after they did that,i finally feel the most pain than ever i could imagined, worst pain in my entire life. I tried to take a nap coz thats what my hubby told me in order for me to get more strength but i couldn't do it. Instead, i ask a pain reliever which they called an epidural anaesthesia. I really dont know what exactly they done to me. Hubby said i fall asleep. I just saw a hollow flexible tube or a small catherer left that taped up from my back. The good thing of epidural is, i don't feel any pain nor a contraction but my body feels an entire numbing, i couldn't even move my body, my arms, legs and everything. So i thought this could be a bad sign for giving birth normally. I'm feeling like i'm weak and having hard time to control my push.
At the next morning, around 7:00 they ask me for a push. I insist to just did it by a c-section. Sounds odd but i thought its the easiest safest way for me and my baby. The widwife said i surely can do it normally by pushing. I can't do nothing, i wanted to get over with so i decided to start on pushing. I couldn't remember how many times it was but i just remember a cry of a tiny little one lying at the top of my soft tummy with a soft nursery rhymes they played. I look around and thank God for giving me enough strength to get through to the most difficult job ever.
"Is she a girl?"this was my first question came out from my mouth. My hubby said " YES". I was so happy. I finally came up to realization that i am really a new parent.

Alyssa Eden was born in a very pleasant morning of July 27, 2007 8:02 at Marry Breckinridge Hospital in Hyden, KY USA. She weigh 7lbs. and 3 ounces with a length of 20 inches.
